Hiu Yan Chong

Graduate Trainee

I first came here on an Industrial Placement in Cyber Security and enjoyed it so much that I joined the Graduate Scheme, after leaving university. Something amazing is that the Met Office really values people and encourages you to thrive within the organisation and thrive as a person. They support you to take time to learn the skills you need to develop personally and professionally, and everyone is so warm and welcoming.

Rebecca Holliday

Graduate Trainee

There’s so much more to the Met Office than I could have ever imagined. There are so many opportunities for career development, and I’ve been encouraged and inspired to explore and build a solid foundation in multiple sectors. This prevents me from getting siloed into one area of the company, meaning my work, wherever I end up, will be interdisciplinary and will encompass an understanding of all stages from data collection to reaching customers.

Graduate Building Surveyor

Moving from university to the working world can be exciting and scary. But the Met Office has made the transition as smooth as possible and supported me through it. While there is a lot of expertise and different skills within the organisation, the Met Office really cares about everyone individually. Starting my career at the Met Office is one of the best decisions I ever made, and it is a great place to work.

Kieran Wheatley

Graduate Trainee

I started in Operational Technology; I've worked in the IT Asset Management team and I'm about to join the Flood Forecasting Centre. Right from the start I’ve had so many opportunities to learn and develop my skills in areas I’m interested in, to help further me both in my role and in my long-term career. I've been able to revise for cyber security exams, and Microsoft courses, and I was able to achieve my ServiceNow Certified System Administrator certification!
